AAA Tidewater Announces 2016 Scholarship Winners

Five thousand dollar scholarship to deserving students in Hampton Roads

VIRGINIA BEACH, VA, (June 21, 2016) - In honor of AAA Tidewater Virginia’s founding President; the J. Theron “Tim” Timmons Memorial Scholarship Foundation was established. The foundation provides a $5,000 scholarship annually to deserving graduating seniors in the Hampton Roads area. Out of the large number of applications received, three were chosen for this year’s scholarships. AAA Tidewater Virginia is proud to announce the following recipients of the 2016 Timmons Memorial Scholarship.

Elizabeth Acors of Grassfield High in Chesapeake will be attending the College of William & Mary in pursuit of studying medicine. She has been a part of Grassfield’s Award-Winning Chamber Orchestra, William & Mary Leadership Book Award, AP Scholar, and Honor Society. Miss. Acors was also President of Dolphin Duos (a literacy partnership program) and Vice President of Mu Alpha Theta Honor Society.

Taylor Foreman of Hickory High School in Chesapeake will be attending Christopher Newport University to begin her studies in medicine. Miss. Foreman’s accomplishments include being on the Principal’s Honor Roll, German Student of the Year, and Governor’s German Immersion Academy. She is also a part of the National Honor Society, German Honor Society, and a cellist in her school orchestra.

Brianna Soccio of Tallwood High in Virginia Beach will be attending the College of William & Mary to study International Relations. Miss. Soccio has been accepted to College of William & Mary’s Joint Degree Programme with the University of St. Andrews in Scotland. In addition, she has been a part of an exchange student program in Germany and Jordan, been a member of the Junior World Affairs Council, Global Studies Honor Society, French National Honor Society, and Latin Honor Society.
