VIRGINIA BEACH, VA (October 15, 2019) – AAA Tidewater wants to help teens and their family be “Road Ready” with a Teen Driver Safety Expo on Oct. 19th, in Suffolk. This project will kick off National Teen Driver Safety Week (October 20 - 26th) to bring awareness to the dangers teen drivers face and encourages parents to start conversations about safety on the road. Car crashes continue to be the leading cause of death for teens between 15 and 19 years old. According to NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) 3,255 teen drivers were involved in fatal crashes in 2017.
AAA’s Teen Driver Safety Expo will give parents and teens the tools and resources needed to prevent these tragedies. This event will be an interactive experience for both the teen and parent, providing answers and solutions to address the dangers ahead on the road. Experts will be available to help new drivers prepare to take the road, participate in a basic car care clinic, how to save on insurance, how to avoid distracted driving and much more!
The Expo is FREE and OPEN to the PUBLIC. Participants can pre-register at www.AAA.com/teenexpo
