Spring break travel is making a comeback in Coastal Virginia, with nearly two-thirds of Hampton Roads residents planning to take at least one spring vacation this year, according to the AAA Tidewater Spring Break Travel Poll.
As Virginia faces another threat for ice and snow, AAA Tidewater Virginia urges motorists to be prepared. According to crash facts provided by the Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV), snow, sleet and ice caused havoc for over 13 percent of crashes and sadly an average of eight people perish each year in the Commonwealth due to these conditions.
AAA Tidewater Virginia has announced the four lodgings and four restaurants that earned the Four Diamond Award® or Five Diamond Award® in Southeastern Virginia. The AAA/CAA Five and Four Diamond Ratings are the travel authority’s highest designations for hotels and restaurants.
Beginning October 31, 2013 at 9:00pm until January 1, 2014 at 6:00am, AAA Tidewater Virginia will offer the Tow to Go program in Hampton Roads. This program is for the Greater Hampton Roads area only (cities listed below). The single goal of the program is get the individual and their vehicle home safely.
The holidays are upon us and so are busy roadways full of holiday travelers headed out to celebrate with family, friends and loved ones. More than 2.7 million Virginia residents are embarking on their Christmas time road trips.
AAA projects more than 2.7 million Virginians will be traveling for the 2013 year-end holiday season (Saturday, December 21 to Wednesday, January 1) and on average will log 965 miles to celebrate with friends and family as compared to 765 miles last year; a colossal 26 percent increase in total miles traveled, despite slightly higher gas prices.
